Updated 8 October 2026. Independent guide; not a government website and not an installer.

Most of the headline schemes in this site are English. Here is what we could confirm for the other nations on 8 October 2026, and what we could not.

Scotland

  • The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan listing shows solar PV as not available, with funding for solar and storage ended for applicants from June 2024. Batteries are not listed.
  • Home Energy Scotland notes a typical battery cost of about £8,000 and no funding detail on its battery page.
  • We could not verify the terms of Warmer Homes Scotland for batteries, or current loan limits. Treat figures on third-party sites as unreliable and check with Home Energy Scotland.

Wales

  • Nest is Wales' means-tested home energy scheme. Gov.wales says past improvements included solar panels.
  • The new Warm Homes Programme policy statement is reported to put solar with battery storage in scope. We could not open the full statement to confirm criteria, so call the Nest advice line before relying on it.
  • The Warm Homes Loan Scheme rules say any UK domestic property is eligible.

Northern Ireland

  • NI Direct says there is no financial support for homeowners generating their own electricity.
  • The Domestic RHI is closed. We could not confirm the status of a supplier-funded pilot that included solar and batteries.
  • The 0% VAT rate on installation is understood to apply under the Windsor Framework; confirm with your installer.
Rules differ by nation and change often. If a figure here is not what you are told elsewhere, trust the official scheme page.
